How to know whether your BMI (Body Mass Index) is correct or not, How to use BMI Calculator?

The weight of a healthy person should be according to his height, for which the standard is prescribed.  BMI is the ratio of a person's height and weight to the body mass index.  BMI is a calculation based on which you can know whether you are balanced and healthy according to height and weight.  There are many online and offline calculators available to find out body mass index.  Now the question is, on which formula it works and how to use it?  Let us know about this in detail:

To calculate body mass index, you have to provide information about your height and weight on the online calculator.  Make sure that you enter your height and weight correctly.  Body mass index is a simple calculation using a person's height and weight, with the simple formula:

BMI = Weight / Height Square

     or

     BMI = Weight / (Height X Height)

The use of BMI calculator (Body Mass Index Calculator) for these is not right.

BMI should not be used for bodybuilders, athletes, pregnant women, the elderly or young children.  Because in these cases it is not able to calculate correctly.  Indeed, BMI does not take into account whether weight can be taken as muscle or fat.  For example, the weight of pregnant women is not only theirs, but it also includes the weight of the child to be born.

If your BMI index falls below 18.5 based on your height and weight, then understand that you are underweight and you should try to increase it.  Ideally, your BMI level is between 18.5 and 24.9.  In this situation, your weight is perfect and it is important for you to maintain it.  At the same time, if the BMI level is 25 or above, then you should be careful.  This puts you at a higher risk of developing diabetes 2, heart disease or stroke, while being prepared for all the ill effects of obesity if you have a BMI over 30.

     BMI limits

Not only can BMI be the basis of a healthy body and standard weight, age and gender also affect BMI, ie Body Mass Index, in a way, the ratio of your body length and weight can be called.  BMI tells whether your body weight is right according to your height or not, but it also has its limits.  In BMI, it becomes difficult to find out how much fat is stored in which part of your body.

Experts point out that BMI is an indicator of a healthy body weight, but it has limitations.  BMI may not take body composition into account.  The body has its own diversity due to muscle mass, bone mass and fat.  In such a situation, it is not appropriate to assess a healthy body on the basis of standard BMI only.

     BMI ranges for adults

BMI may not be completely accurate, as it is a measure of excess body weight, which does not measure excess body fat.  BMI is affected by factors such as age, gender, muscle mass and body fat.

For example, an adult who is considered to be of a healthy weight according to BMI, but is completely inactive in his daily life, that is, does not exercise, may have excess body fat, even though his body  Don't be overweight.  Based on BMI alone, that person would not be considered healthy, while a person younger than him with a higher muscle composition of the same BMI would be considered healthy.

BMI ranges for children and adolescents:

The BMI limits for adults may also apply to children and adolescents.  In addition, height and level of sexual maturity can also affect the measurement of BMI and body fat.  BMI is a better indicator of excess body fat for overweight children than for obese children.

According to Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

An older adult has more body fat than a younger adult with the same BMI.

Women tend to have more fat than men for a similar BMI.

Highly trained athletes may have a higher BMI due to muscle mass.

How to determine BMI, what is its formula?

Controlling weight is very important to stay healthy, but do you know how much weight should be according to your height, which tells you to be completely fit.  For this it is necessary to know about your body mass index ie BMI.  Based on BMI, you can find out whether you are overweight or underweight.

BMI means body mass index, it tells whether your body weight is right according to your height.  In a way, it can be called the ratio of your body length and weight.  It is said that the BMI of a normal body should not exceed 22.1.

     How to calculate bmi

BMI is one of the main indicators of how your height is related to your weight.  BMI is calculated by dividing a person's height by doubling his weight.

     Understand with an example

Suppose your weight is 58 kg and your height is 165 cm i.e. 1.65 m.  So to find its BMI, multiply 1.65 by 1.65 and divide by 58 by the result obtained.  The result that will come will be your BMI.

     Here is the simple formula:

BMI = Weight (Kilograms) / (Height X Height (in meters))

     i.e

     58 / (1.65 X 1.65) = 21.32

Now the question is that according to the standard, what should be the body mass index?

    BMI less than 18.5

If your BMI index falls below 18.5 based on your height and weight, then understand that you are underweight and you should try to increase it.

    BMI between 18.5 to 24.9

Ideally, your BMI level is between 18.5 and 24.9.  In this situation, your weight is perfect and it is important for you to maintain it.

Be careful if you have a BMI above 25

If the BMI level is 25 or above then you should be careful.  This puts you at a higher risk of developing diabetes 2, heart disease or stroke, while being prepared for all the ill effects of obesity if you have a BMI over 30.
